Our neighbours' terrace

When I sit on our kitchen balcony I can see this terrace. I do not know who lives there as practically never anybody enjoys sitting there. If it was ours we would have more plants, a parasol in a lively color, in the morning we would drink coffee at the table, read the newspaper, at lunchtime we would have our Insalata Caprese of course accompanied by a glass of fresh and golden yellow wine, then we would have a little nap on blue-white striped deckchairs, around 5 o'clock an extended aperitif with hubby, i.e. Prosecco and a platter with olives, crispy bread, some Parma ham... Then go back inside the apartment prepare a beautiful dinner for friends with pasta, meat, salad, a sweet. When they arrive we would seat them at a nicely set table, light some candles and let our lifes flow...  Who knows me might even dance... When the weather is warm one could put a bed outside and watch the stars sparkling...

Well, not everybody has got the same ideas! Definitely! What I love though is the livesafer! It is such a summery asset and each year I am delighted when these unknown neighbours hang it up again.

Wishing you a pleasant day!

Meet Jürgen Mayer H.

Metropol Parasol in Sevilla - find out more here

Jürgen Mayer H
I did watch a portrait of Jürgen Mayer H. on TV yesterday and was fascinated by his way of thinking - leaving outworn pathes and interpreting architecture in a new way. He is THE architect of the 21st century. So good to know him - I am sure one will hear more of him! Hereafter you find a short CV including a link to his website:

"Founded in 1996 in Berlin, Germany, J. MAYER H. focuses on works at the intersection of architecture, communication and new technology. Recent projects include the Town Hall in Ostfildern, Germany, a student center at Karlsruhe University and the redevelopment of the Plaza de la Encarnacion in Sevilla, Spain. From urban planning schemes and buildings to installation work and objects with new materials, the relationship between the human body, technology and nature form the background for a new production of space.
Jürgen Mayer H. is founder and principal of this crossdisciplinairy studio. He studied at Stuttgart University, The Cooper Union and at Princeton Universtiy. His work was published and exhibited worldwide and is part of international collections like the MoMA New York and SF MoMA. His work was awarded with numerous prizes, i.e. the Mies-van-der-Rohe-Award 2003 Emerging Architect and Winner Holcim Awards 2005 Bronze Europe for Metropol Parasol. Jürgen Mayer H. tought at Princeton University, University of the Arts Berlin, Harvard University, Kunsthochschule Berlin, the Architectural Association in London and is currently teaching at Columbia University in New York."

I hope my post gives you a good start into this new week!

Perfect for a summer holiday!

Can you imagine being here and spending a holiday? Well, I can! Everything is so light and bright! DId you see the carpet? Fun isn't it? No vacuum cleaning necessary...he he he

Today is a kind of holiday here too. We are going to meet the handicapped friends in order to watch the photos everyone shot during our holiday in Cinque Terre. I know it is going to be an afternoon full of excitement and laughter. A real promising Saturday!

Before I have to do some shopping, drinking coffee with hubby and then going to nursery.

Happy day!

Make your eyes happy!

Often reminders are annoying but the ones from Erin Hansen are a charming way! What do you think?
I would need one saying "Go jogging"...

Currently we are having a bug on our Mac Computer and I can't do any posting as the system does not allow me to login. So I am using my son's notebook but I do not feel comfy at all. If you have a Mac be very careful if you receive post by Mac Guard - it is a phishing program!

So till tomorrow all, have a wonderful day!

Bedrooms

Love the green leaves

I would like to sleep in all these bedrooms at least once. I guess only then I could really say which one I favour most. At the moment I would like to spend a night (or a day) in the bed with that purple throw. Which is your fave?

Thanks for visiting my blog today - come back tomorrow!

Louise Bourgeois

I am so very happy and energized to show you pictures of Louise Bourgeois' bronze sculpture Maman.
It is one of six replicas - the original being in London.
I am fascinated by this artist and her work since quite sometime.
I have seen her spider in Bilbao and just like then I felt excited to stand underneath and look up.
(It is 10 meters high and weighs 12 tons).
One feels somehow protected and at the same time scared.
I could not stop taking pictures! I will visit Maman again tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and...

The Fondation Beyeler in Basle is presenting her art from September 3, 2011 to January 8, 2012. This exhibition is a must! Don't miss it! By the way Maman remains in Berne till June 7,  from June 10 till end of July it is exposed in Zuerich and from mid-August in Geneva.

Find out more about Louise Bourgeois here, more facts about the exhibition in Basle here.

"The Spider is an ode to my mother. She was my best friend. Like a spider, my mother was a weaver. My family was in the business of tapestry restoration, and my mother was in charge of the workshop. Like spiders, my mother was very clever. Spiders are friendly presences that eat mosquitoes. We know that mosquitoes spread diseases and are therefore unwanted. So, spiders are helpful and protective, just like my mother."
– Louise Bourgeois

I hope my post inspired you!
Happy Wednesday!
