Pannacotta with pears...

Had this beautiful, delicious and easy to make autumn dessert yesterday. A sin but worth every calorie. Here comes the recipe:

4 pears
6 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp gingerbread spice mix
5 dl full-fat cream
1 vanilla pod
4 gelatine leaves

Wash pears, peel, core, cut in slices. Add to pan together with 2 tbsp sugar, spices and a little bit of water. Let simmer for a few minutes. Pears should be soft but not fall apart.
Add the cream to another pan together with 4 tbsp of sugar. Cut vanilla pod in halve, scrape out the seeds and add them and  the pod to the cream and sugar. Bring to the boil, turn off the heat and let stand for a bout 15 minutes. Then remove the pod and reboil. Add the gelatine leaves (which you have soaked in cold water before) and stir until they have completely dissolved.
Add the pear slices into small jars and fill up with the vanilla cream.
Let stand in the fridge for at least 3 hours. Sprinkle with cinnamon and garnish with fresh pear slices before serving.

How about that? Try it out and let me know how it tasted.

Happy cooking!

Is this nice?

I saw these in the window of Navyboot in Lausanne. I like Navyboot but these items appear to be a bit strange to me - especially when I look at the price...
However, it would be so boring if everybody wore the same or looked the same...

Make up your mind...

I enjoyed meeting you today! Thanks for your visit!

A Sunday in Lausanne

Lausanne Ouchy - at Lake Geneva

I promised you to bring back some pictures of Lausanne. Et voilà here they are! We had a wonderful day together with our son. Lausanne is a grand city and has got that French flair. When visiting I called it little Paris. If you have the chance to visit  - then do so. So much you can discover and see. There are small bars and restaurants everywhere - you would love it!

Well, I hope you love your Monday! Begin this week with a smile...

Au revoir et a demain!

Don't miss Light location - a dream

This would be the perfect place to spend this sunny autmn day! We have other plans - we are visiting our younger son in Lausanne where he is helping out on a farm and at the same time improves his French.
I hope I can show you some pictures tomorrow.

The picture above is from Light locations where you can find AWESOME images of locations on sale. Unfortunately the pictures are copyright so I cannot show you more than this one.
I strongly advise you to visit the website though and start dreaming...

Enjoy this Sunday and make the most out of it!

Autumn blessedness

I received from a dear friend a Vakre Hjem & Interior magazine from 2010 and found these autumn flower arrangements in there. As they are so very beautiful I thought I share them with you!
What do you think?

Be inspired by this wonderful sunny day!

It's autumn

Our street this morning - shrouded in mist

Autumn Day

Lord: it is time. The summer was immense.
Lay your shadow on the sundials
and let loose the wind in the fields.

Bid the last fruits to be full;
give them another two more southerly days,
press them to ripeness, and chase
the last sweetness into the heavy wine.

Whoever has no house now will not build one
anymore.
Whoever is alone now will remain so for a long
time,
will stay up, read, write long letters,
and wander the avenues, up and down,
restlessly, while the leaves are blowing.

I absolutely love this poem written by Rainer Maria Rilke
and I read it several times during autmn.

Go out, open your eyes and welcome this heavenly season where candles are lit, sweet scents fill the house, where long strolls in warm pullovers and shawls make you happy, where cold winds blow and warm chestnuts not only chafe one's hands but also one's heart!

See you tomorrow!

In the morning...

when I get up I often have puffed up eyes... well, I am not twenty anymore...

Star visagist Horst Kirchberger suggests to massage the area
around the eyes with the middle finger by circulating as shown above.
He advises to do that 3 or 4 times.
I have tried it (I did it more than just 4 times) and I must admit it really helps!!!

So if you have swollen eyes in the morning this might by the solution... at least give it a try!

Nice, nice day everyone!

Some facts about...

... Australia! We had some friends staying in our apartment while we were on our hiking tour and they left some presents for us. Among them was this magnetical fly for the fridge. I guess you knew about the rock, the reef and the opera house but did you know about the flies? Well, I didn't! You see there is always something one did not know and one can learn... brilliant isn't it?

I hope you will learn something new and amazing today!

Celebrate midweek!

More style in the mountains...

Frauenmuseum

The last evening of our hiking trip we spent in Hittisau, Austria. We arrived after a 9 hours walk over several alps at 6 pm and had a beautiful glass of white wine on the terrace of Hotel Krone in fact just before the weather changed from summer to autumn. The dinner we had was delicious! All prepared with local products. The room was fantastic (the shower just awesome) and what I liked most was that the shower gel and body lotion were not those cheap, malodorant products  but of the Occitane line...WOW! The breakfast the following morning did leave nothing to be desired... fresh fruits, local cheeses, meat, eggs, vegetables, bread in many variations, muesli, flakes, yoghurt, sweets, coffee, many kinds of tea... because it was raining the hotel offered nice umbrellas. Unfortunately we had to leave... it would have been very relaxing to stay another day, evening and night. The more so because there were many newspaper we could have read that rainy day... By the way: In Hittisau the Frauenmuseum is located. I was not able to visit it but heard it to be interesting. Look here.

Well,  you see - I was taken by Hotel Krone. If you ever go to Bregenzerwald (which is worth a visit anyway because of its breathtaking landscape) then that is the place for overnighting.

Today I am off to work again - you may know the first day is always a bit hard as with one foot one is still on holiday and with the other one at work...
