It is at your feet...

I came across this picture in Homes and Gardens. To me it exudes such a beauty when looking at the vintage tiles, the old sink and striped towel. Oh, what a wonderful world in such a limited space... keep your eyes wide open... design, bliss, handsomeness is at your feet...

Lovely day everyone and thanks for visiting me on this last August day in 2011!

He asked me...

Robert d'Oisneau
Le Baiser de l'hôtel de ville, Paris 1950

"He asked me would I yes to say yes
my mountain flower and first I put my arms around him yes
and drew him down to me so he could feel my breasts' all perfume yes
and his heart was going like mad and yes I said yes I will Yes"
(Last sentence of Ulysses James Joyce)

It's all said... have Sunday filled with love!

Meet the Sartorialist

pic August 26 Sartorialist

From WIkipedia:

The Sartorialist" is a fashion blog by Scott Schuman in New York.[1] After leaving a fashion sales position to take care of his daughter in 2005, he began carrying a digital camera around on the streets of New York City, taking pictures of people who had dressed in some way that caught his eye, and then posting them to his blog, sometimes with comments about what he finds[1]. He pioneered fashion photography in blog form.[2]
He describes his philosophy as trying to echo how fashion designers looked at what they saw on the street:
I thought I could shoot people on the street the way designers looked at people, and get and give inspiration to lots of people in the process. My only strategy when I began The Sartorialist was to try and shoot style in a way that I knew most designers hunted for inspiration.[3]

Scott Schuman
Schuman has taken photos in different locations besides New York, often ParisLondonFlorence and Milan when he has gone there for fashion shows. His subjects range from fashion celebrities like Karl Lagerfeld to unidentified regular people. He has found uniforms[4] and dirty work clothes[5] as well as those trying to display their style. He says his inspiration was a picture of a man on an empty street taken by Germanphotographer August Sander.[6]
Schuman began getting other work from serious fashion publications. Condé Nast tapped him to do something similar during Fashion Week in Paris for its style.com website.[1] He also regularly works events for Saks Fifth Avenue, and says French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld has also talked to him about doing something for her magazine.[1]
In 2009, an anthology of Schuman's favourite shots from around the world was published as a book entitled The Sartorialist.[7]

Do not miss his blog - an absolut MUST!

Enjoy!

Lauren Hutton - Style icon

“We have to be able to grow up.
Our wrinkles are our medals of the passage of life.
They are what we have been through and who we want to be.”
(Lauren Hutton)

Nothing to add to that...

Happy day!

Houses in Barcelona

During our holidays we visited Barcelona for one day. We went on a city tour and I decided to take pictures of houses. Here you see a selection of them.  I very much liked what I saw and definitely want to go back and dive into that beautiful, vibrant city!

I hope my post makes you smile today...

More summer - more pink!

This balcony reminds me of my kitchen balcony! It is incredible what you can do with a limited space when you have lots of fantasy! Sigh, sigh, sigh... It gives me some ideas for next summer! Full monty!
And next year I WANT a bird bath like that!

Today another hot day ahead of us - the weather forecast predicts lower temperatures from Friday on  and I tell you for once I do NOT mind!

Hope your Tuesday feels cool!

Hot Monday!

It is really hot here in Switzerland. Temperatures have risen above 31° C in Berne. We are all trying to stay cool by using ventilators, wearing light clothes,  swimming in the river and with icy cold drinks!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Swimming in River Aare

Swimming area Marzili in the back the Swiss Federal Parliament

In

you can also take a rubber boat from Thun... very easy as you can see

Berne has a beautiful river called Aare. In summertime people walk up the river path and then float down to the swimming area called Marzili. On a hot day there are thousands of people taking the plunge and enjoying themselves! It is said that sometimes more "heads float down" than people live in the city... here some impressions of yesterday afternoon. What do you think? Come and try it yourself...  you'll LOVE it!
