"He is the true couturier among us"
Coco Chanel
When we were on holiday in Spanish Basque Country we visited the Cristobal Balenciaga Museum. A real treasure and a must when in the region. The Museum was opened in June 2011 and there is not really a lot of public relation for it. In fact I noticed it only because there were small flags along the streets showing the eyecatching clothes of Cristobal Balenciaga. When I asked a local I was told that there is a museum. So I am really proud to show you some pictures:
The clothes are displayed like sculptures and each one is a masterpiece. I have been sewing clothes myself (long time ago) and I think a little bit I could see the work behind it. The Museum is situated in Getaria the birth place of Balenciaga. A very small fishermen's village and the fishermen's clothes had an influence on his work. The modern building of the Museum is very surprising. Tomorrow I'll show you more pictures of the surroundings and Getaria.
In the meantime stay happy and smile!
