This shabby but chic bench (is it a bench? I do not know the name for it...)
was in the park of a castle on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
A treasure!
Give yourself a rest this weekend!
Do things that bring blessedness to your mind and soul!

ReplyDeleteThis seat is really old.. I think they were called 'sweetheart' seats.. but i am not sure.
ReplyDeleteit would look just right in my garden.
I would relax and take my wine in the lovely spring sun.

Yes, I agree with Val, we call them 'Lovers' seats - you can gaze into each others adoring eyes.

Yes,it's a "love seat"... very nice, but... I'm sure the lovers who used it must have had their 50th wedding anniversary, by now... so rusty! What a shame, as they are really unusual and beautiful. With a bit of TLC, the seat would be restored to its original beauty! I think I would love to own it, Christa!

We call them kissing seats, but I think sweethearts seat is much nicer! Lovely thing either way.

I never seen it before but I wish I had one.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful evening Christina.
This is called a "courting chair." A courting chair is formed in a way that allows two people to sit extremely close together without actually touching. During the Victorian Era this chair would have been placed in the center of the parlor
ReplyDeleteLove the 'loveseat' Christa, rust and all! Love Linda x
