Yesterday evening I decorated some oranges with cloves. It reminds me of my childhood when the mixture of orange and cloves was everywhere in the house. But it is not only that - I think they also look pretty and a little bit old-fashioned.
Wishing you a nice day - it is the last day of November which is incredible and exciting!

O yes - reminds me on my childhood!

the simple meaningful decorations are my favorite. they do bring memories of childhood with them and that's the best way to celebrate christmas.....
ReplyDeleteit reminds me also of my childhood...
ReplyDeletemaybe the world is not so different as we think : )
I've always wanted to do this - when I was a little girl, I had a craft and cook book that I loved to read, and this project was in it. Thank you for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't remind me of my childhood. Fresh mandarin oranges remind me of my Christmases in Italy, as a child, and the smell of pine, resin and candles burning. All things connected with my Dad! He so loved Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI only knew pomanders existed when I came to live here, in UK. A pomander is an orange usually totally covered in cloves, (all over,) then left for a few weeks in a kind of fragrant preservant powder (a mixture of herbs and spices) When dry, it will keep for at least a year. The smell is lovely. I believe this to be a very old fashioned Northern European Tradition.
