Green Day 14

I am linking up with Green Day at Raindrops and Daisies.
This old ginger bread house is located close to where I live.
It looks so enchanted and  I love how it's garden is overgrown.
There is some green magic about it - a suitable subject for Green Day 14.

So have a relaxing Friday and until next time!

Nature takes over

What would happen with buildings, streets, ferris wheels etc., if mankind would leave the earth?
Here are some wonderful examples how it nature would take over...

I hope your weekend is splendid and cheerful!

Attention au chien

Our friends Ina and Toiy own a fabulous garden house on a garden plot on the border Switzerland/Germany..
Since a very long time they have this little toy dog. I think it does not even have a name.
However, as a little boy our younger son was fascinated and scared by it, as it was leashed like a big and dangerous dog and on top there was this sign "Attention au chien" (French) which means "Beware of dog".
Upon our return home he would do the same with his plushies.
Up to this day he has not forgotten about it and we laugh and joke about it.

Visiting Ina and Toni in June we all remembered this story and thought it would be worth a post.
So here you go! Meet that little dog! The painting on the door was done by Ina - it is still beautiful after all these years.

I hope you are spending this day happy and smiling with your beloved ones.

AVOCA gardens

AVOCA also means love for gardening. There is even a little roof top garden in their Dublin shop. Hereafter you'll see some pics of their garden near Wicklow where AVOCA's headquarters are based. BTW this garden was once attached to the house of Jameson's Whiskey family:

You all noticed: I am totally MAD about AVOCA!
Tomorrow and on Friday another post about this paradise and on Saturday a giveaway!

Thank you all for your lovely comments (I'll come back to them - I am still catching up with my work in the office) and I hope you are also a bit hit by this acute AVOCA flue...

A moment of peace

... while projecting your thoughts into this garden. It's the paradise of our friend Ina.

To me this pic is a like a painting and therefore will not add any other photo.
I took more shots and will publish them on another occasion.

I hope you are all having a sunny day.
To my dear readers from the States:

Happy 4th of July!

Lazy days - long nights

The weather is lovely and summery now and during the day really hot!
Predicted temperatures for today: 28 to 32°C.
I am starting to long for lazy days and long nights outside with friends.

I have a beautiful day ahead of me and I hope I can show you some pictures tomorrow!

Happy day to you too!

Memories of the last working day in the garden

When my younger son helped me to clean up the garden and getting it ready for winter time I took a few pics. The weather was lovely and warm. I was wearing sandals and in the evening my feet were tanned. We could not imagine what it would feel like when the temperatures fall! These days I cannot think how warm it was then! Luckily I have some photographs of that felicitous afternoon.

Be nice to yourself!

Home of heaven... part I

This is the house where my sister in law and my brother moved in this summer
 - it is what we call it here in Switzerland a Chalet. According to Wikipedia the definition of  Chalet is:
chalet (play /ˈʃæl/), also called Swiss chalet, is a type of building or house, native to the Alpine region, made of wood, with a heavy, gently sloping roof with wide, well-supported eaves set at right angles to the front of the house.
The view into the Alps...
My sister in law is a total shabby chic freak and that is what the Chalet represents: Shabby chic, vintage... I tell you AWESOME! Their garden is fantastic:

They even have a greenhouse! Come on inside:

A deckchair for a rest even during winter time...

Pots ready for the next planting...

That is what you need to deal with the greenery...

Old tile

A glance from the greenhouse into the garden...

The greenhouse photographed from the outside...

The door into the cellar...

Before going inside we take off our rubber boots and shoes...

Cellar door closed!

It is true, isn't it?

When I saw the house it reminded me of the house my girlfriend's grandma lived in! Actually it was located very close to this chalet. The smell in the cellar took me right into my childhood... memories of braised chicken the elderly Lady had prepared when Verena and me arrived, white napkins and also a big silence as the house was large and she lived there alone! Still - there was a feel of warmth and total protection... a world I have never forgotten... and now it is back in this house! Mindblowing...

Tomorrow I'll show you a few pictures of the inside.
The house is not finished with it's decoration. big work ahead of my brother's family!
But I believe you'll feel what it is meant to be when you see the photos.

So till then! Keep on decorationg! It is such fun!
