Art on the table

Actually I prefer white when setting the table (most of the time anyway) as it doesn't interfere with the food. These table clothes and place mats are so irresistibly cheer- and colorful and mood elevating though, that I could well imagine setting the table with them. Especially now that one prefers to sit outside with family and guests!

It is Aline Telek of Fil Rouge who creates them. She is a professional graphic designer from Switzerland who is very much inspired by cooking. She loves textures, colors and odors of fruits, vegetables, nuts, cheeses, sausages... and finds joy in eating. I think her work expresses that in a pretty and appealing manner.

Today I shall spend some extra time on setting the table.

  1. So lovely and cheerful, Christa! We tend to be a bit boring with our tablecloth, though I agree: one colour is better than patterns.

I love gingham (checks) for a cosy, everyday, almost rustic/country style table.

I have a table cloth and napkins which is a masterpiece: made in Italy, it's all hand embroidered and was very, very expensive, when it was bought for me by my mum. I don't know if I would spend as much as she did on a tablecloth, but she wanted to...

I love all the images you posted. I will click on the link, in a minute.

    Buona giornata!

  3. This is a very clever way to see how one can dress your table.
Like you Christa, now we live mostly outside. There are some super ideas here. I like the way she has designed it all.
As a country girl, i like simplicity..with some flowers from the garden on the table. I could use a few of the ideas above.
    thank you Christa.
    wishing you a happy tuesday
